About these terms
These terms cover the free Unreal Musician app and the Unreal Musician Pro license. You agree to them by using the app or buying Pro.
Algosyntax Pty Ltd makes and sells Unreal Musician. In these terms “we” and “us” mean Algosyntax Pty Ltd.

These terms do not take away any consumer rights that your country’s law gives you and does not allow anyone to waive.
The free app
- Unreal Musician is a Windows desktop app. You import a MIDI file and a 3D pianist plays it, with fingering created automatically. You can then render the performance to an MP4 video.
- The free app costs nothing, and you do not need an account with us. Coming soon to the Microsoft Store. Updates come through the Microsoft Store.
- Requirements: Windows 11 (64-bit) and a DirectX 12 graphics card. Windows N editions also need the free Media Feature Pack to render videos.
- Please try the free app on your PC before you buy Pro.

The Pro license
- Pro is a license key that unlocks Pro features in the same app. You pay once. There is no subscription.
- That one payment covers every future Unreal Musician update. We never remove Pro features you have paid for.
- We do not promise release dates. Features we show as coming soon or planned are not part of your purchase until they are released.
- Pro currently adds:
- one VST3 instrument plugin of your choice (64-bit), with its own editor window
- a free-fly camera, so you can set up your video’s view from any angle. Videos use a still view, with no camera moves.
- no watermark by default, or an optional watermark with adjustable opacity
- video sizes above the free 720p: 1080p, 1440p and 4K, plus vertical (1080×1920) and square (1080×1080)

Your key and your PCs
- Two PCs per key. One key works on 2 PCs at the same time.
- Activate. Go to Settings > General > License, paste your key and select Activate. Activation needs an internet connection.
- Offline use. After each successful online check, Pro works offline for 30 days. Starting the app while connected renews this. If 30 days pass without a check, the app runs as the free version until it next starts with an internet connection.
- Move to another PC. On the old PC, go to Settings > General > License and select “Deactivate this PC”. Then activate the key on the new PC.
- Deactivation limit. You can deactivate a key 2 times in a row. The count clears once 30 days pass without a deactivation. If you need to move sooner, email support.
- Reinstalling Windows. Reinstalling Windows changes your PC’s ID, so the same PC uses a new slot. Deactivate before you reinstall, or email support and we can reset your PCs.
- No account. We send your key to the email address you use at checkout, and it also appears on the receipt page. If you lose it, email support from that address and we will resend your receipt.
- Transfers. Your key is for your own use on up to 2 PCs. You may not sell, share or publish it. A transfer to another person is possible only through support.
If the license service ends
Activation and the 30-day check use our license service on unrealmusician.com. If we ever stop running the license service, we will release an update that lets existing Pro keys keep working without online checks.
Buying Pro
- You buy Pro at checkout on unrealmusician.com, and PayPal processes the payment. PayPal decides which payment methods it offers you. We never see your card details.
- The charge appears under the name Algosyntax.
- Prices are in US dollars. The current price is on /buy/ and at checkout.
- After you pay, your key appears on the receipt page and is sent to your email.
- You can get a refund within 7 days of purchase. See the Refund Policy.
Refund Policy
Videos you make
- You may use videos you render with Unreal Musician commercially, with Free or Pro. Examples are a monetized channel or paid client work.
- You are responsible for the rights to the music in your MIDI files. A song can be under copyright even if you made the MIDI file yourself.
- You are also responsible for the rights to sounds from any third-party VST3 instrument you use.
- The built-in piano sound (Upright Piano KW) is released under CC0, so it puts no license conditions on your videos.
- Videos made with the free app include a watermark.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- crack, patch or otherwise get around the license check
- share, publish or sell license keys
- use a key on more PCs than it allows
- use keys that we did not issue
If you break these rules, we may revoke the key.
Third-party components
Unreal Musician is built with third-party software and sounds, and each has its own license:
- Unreal Engine by Epic Games, which the app runs on
- the VST 3 SDK by Steinberg, which lets Pro load VST3 instruments
- TinySoundFont, which plays the built-in piano
- Midifile by Craig Stuart Sapp, which reads imported MIDI files
- the Upright Piano KW sound from the FreePats project, released under CC0
The full notices and license texts are in the app under Settings > About.
UnrealĀ® is a trademark or registered trademark of Epic Games, Inc. in the United States of America and elsewhere. VST is a trademark of Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH, registered in Europe and other countries.
VST3 plugins you load in Pro are third-party software. Their licenses, support and data practices are between you and the companies that make them. We cannot guarantee that every plugin works in Unreal Musician.
Privacy
Pro activation, license checks and deactivation send your key and a one-way hash of your PC’s ID to our license service. The Privacy Policy explains everything the app and the site collect, and why.

Disclaimer
We work to keep Unreal Musician reliable, but we provide it “as is”. We do not promise that it is free of errors, or that it works on every PC or with every VST3 plugin. The free app lets you check that it works on your PC before you buy.
Limitation of liability
- As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Examples are lost profits, lost data and lost work.
- Our total liability to you for Pro is limited to the amount you paid for it.
- This section does not limit any liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
Governing law
The laws of Botswana govern these terms, and disputes go to the courts of Botswana. This does not remove the consumer rights described under “About these terms”.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the app changes. The date at the top of this page shows the current version. A change never removes Pro features you have already paid for.
