Effective date: October 28, 2026
This policy covers the Unreal Musician app for Windows and the unrealmusician.com website. It explains what we collect, why we collect it, who receives it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have.
Algosyntax Pty Ltd makes Unreal Musician and runs unrealmusician.com. We are the “controller” of the personal data described here, which means we decide why and how it is used.
Email: [email protected]
We handle personal data in line with the data protection laws that apply to us and to you, including the EU and UK GDPR where they apply.
The app connects to our servers over an encrypted connection for the purposes below. Like any internet connection, this shows your IP address and basic technical details, such as the app version and operating system, to us and to our infrastructure providers.
Update checks
Usage statistics
Pro license checks (only if you enter a key)
When you activate Pro, while a key is saved, and when you deactivate a PC, the app sends:
Our license records hold the key, the email address and order it was bought with, the key’s status, the device identifiers of the PCs that use it, and when each PC was activated and last checked. Because the device identifier is linked to your email address, we treat it as personal data. We use these records to verify your license, apply the device limit, let you move your license to another PC, and revoke refunded or misused keys.
If you never enter a key, the app sends no license data.
Links in the app, such as Buy Pro and update notices, open in your web browser. The website section below covers those visits.
Your settings, your plugin list, your license file (Pro only) and your rendered videos are stored on your PC and are not uploaded. The app reads the MIDI files you import, but it does not copy or upload them.
Uninstalling the app removes its settings and license file, but not your rendered videos. To remove a PC’s device identifier from our records, deactivate that PC before you uninstall, or contact support.
Pro lets you load a third-party VST3 instrument. That plugin is another developer’s software, and we do not control what it does, including any connections it makes or data it collects. Its developer’s privacy policy applies.
If you install the app from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles downloads, installs and updates under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Microsoft may give us aggregated reports, such as install counts and crash summaries.
Orders
You do not need an account to buy. For each order we store:
We need your email address to deliver your key. We use your order details to deliver your key, send your receipt, handle refunds and support, and keep business records.
Payment
PayPal processes the payment. Your payment details go to PayPal, not to us, and we never see or store card numbers. PayPal tells us whether the payment went through. PayPal’s privacy statement covers what PayPal collects.
We use an email service provider to send your receipt and license key and to receive messages sent to our support address. When you email us, we keep your address, your message and any attachments so that we can answer you.
Site delivery and security
Our hosting and content delivery providers process your IP address and standard request details to deliver pages and protect the site and our services from abuse. We also use limited technical data for a short time to prevent abuse of our license and app services.

Our community is on Discord. If you join, Discord’s privacy policy applies, and other members can see what you post.
We do not use your data for advertising or profiling. We send marketing emails only where you have agreed to receive them or the law otherwise allows it, and you can opt out at any time.
We share personal data only with the following categories of recipients, and each receives only what it needs for its role:
We do not sell or rent personal data. If you would like more detail about the providers that process your data, email us.
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses in our providers’ data protection terms.
We use encrypted connections, create the device identifier on your PC before it is sent, limit who can access customer records, and leave card data with our payment processor. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you where the law requires it.
Choices in the app
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
To make a request, email [email protected] from your purchase email address, or include your order details so that we can confirm it is you. We reply within the time the law requires, which is usually one month.
Two limits apply to deletion:
You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Unreal Musician is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy, for example when the app, the site or our providers change. We post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
